Bittersweet Valentine's Day, but still in love with...
Today is a bittersweet day. A little more than a year ago I started on this journey to finally provide an option for curvy women for technical pants that have comfort, style, AND function. Sparked by my frustration with having to buy men’s pants to fit my curvy body, I embarked on this amazing, crazy adventure of entrepreneurism. When I started, many entrepreneurs warned me that there will be ups and downs and major frustrations. I didn’t realize how frustrating the frustrations would be until recently.
You see, today was the day that I had planned on officially launching CurvedWear. With a long-overdue culture shift to “body positivity,” I thought that Valentine’s Day was the perfect day to remind us to love ourselves and be kind to ourselves and focus on our own comfort and needs. That’s actually part of the CurvedWear mission: To provide an option for curvy gals who want to play outside in comfort with a goal of helping women achieve equality, justice, self-confidence, and self-worth so they can focus on their own comfort and needs.
So where is the launch, you ask?
The launch requires an actual pair of pants. One of my biggest frustrations has been just getting the sample/prototype pants. In spite of a growing plus-size market, manufactures still struggle with understanding a curvy body type and what it needs for clothes to fit well and comfortably. Manufacturing CurvedWear is, unfortunately, no exception.
The good news is that we’re going to get it! I'm still very much in love with the mission of CurvedWear. The bad news is that it’s taking longer than I had hoped or expected. So hang in there, curvy sisters! I’ll be sure to keep you updated on our progress, trials, tribulations, and successes. In the meantime, keep spreading the word that comfortable, stylish, functional pants for curvy women are coming soon!
