I’m beyond excited to share with you the early announcement that I’m getting ready to launch CurvedWear. We design travel/outdoor adventure pants for curvy women. And I’m planning on giving special pre-sale discounts to the first 100 subscribers on the website!
You may be asking, “What is a policy wonk and politico doing in the fashion/apparel industry?” And the answer is, “I’m learning as I go!”
For many years I’ve had this idea in my head since I have always struggled to find pants that fit my curvy body. You see, almost all women’s pants are cut the exact same way, using a standard straight mannequin and fit model. As they size up, even into plus sizes, the cut or shape doesn’t change, so regardless of size, pants don’t fit women with curves.
Since before I was even pregnant with my first child, I always thought, “Someone ought to do something about this problem because there are millions of curvy women who don’t have equal access to the kind of pants that every other woman has access to.” Eventually, after giving birth to my second child, I realized that I can be that someone. I’ve had incredible coaching and advice, and I’ve been blown away with gratitude at the willingness of the women’s entrepreneur community to lend themselves to help in many ways.
Women helping women is a thread that runs through all of my endeavors in life. That’s why I’m donating a portion of CurvedWear’s revenue to nonprofit, nonpartisan organizations that help girls and women run for office.
Our first prototype is in the works, and I’m committed to having an ethical supply chain with sustainable practices. I’ll be manufacturing the pants in Los Angeles in sweatshop-free factories.
I’m planning on launching my crowdfunding campaign in the next few months, and I’m excited to have chosen iFundWomen as my platform.
Keep your eyes open for details about the launch (plus discounts!). As I mentioned, I am going to give special pre-sale discounts to the first 100 subscribers on the website, so sign up now!
Now you might be asking, “How can I help?” And the answer is to share CurvedWear everywhere! Please share this email and the Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages with everyone you know and help me get the word out.
